Effects of the 2010 World Cup in Britain

Fans watching England GameIn less than two days the world cup is starting. The expectations are high and everyone is expecting to see there team fight for the World Cup or at least getting as high as possible. Nevertheless no isn’t really telling the effect that the tournament will have in various economies around the world and how it will boost small businesses in various countries, especially those that there team is participating.

Usually the main focus on those researches is England as everyone knows there love for Football and there agony to claim –finally- the world cup after so many years. Marketing magazine reports that the World Cup campaign of Fabio Capello’s team will have as an effect of 1.3 billion increases in retail spending in UK with focus on food and grocery.

The normal thing is that during world cup some specific industries will have an increase…ofcourse the betting industry but also a 5.8 per cent increase in footwear and clothing, about GBP 380 million, in June and July. Companies like Sports Direct and JJB Sports will get the most out of it and everything will depend as much further in the competition England will go…

So, everything is set for the biggest event of 2010, all the companies have made there marketing campaigns for the World Cup and they are ready for the final push. Even if there have been noted problems in the organisation until now we shouldn’t forget that the important thing is to see what will happen afterwards in South Africa and what the aftermath will be of such a big tournament.
